BIM and Sustainability: Opportunities in Design

BIM and Sustainability: Opportunities in Design

BIM and Sustainability: Opportunities in Design

2 Formal CPD Points

Available on demand

Overview

The fundamentals that underpin BIM and Sustainability will be explored by highlighting when and why environmental analysis should be undertaken and what tools are available within BIM software packages. This seminar will explain what each analysis is, how it works and why it’s important. It will also explore non-BIM tools and other considerations beyond BIM that designers should be mindful of when creating truly sustainable designs.

This session is suitable for both the novice and expert in BIM and similarly so in sustainability.

CPD

This presentation is equivalent to 2 hours/points of formal CPD and will deliver outcomes related to the following Competency/s from the National Standard of Competency for Architects:

Design: Conceptual Design
Design 3.8 Application of manual and digital graphic techniques and modelling to describe three dimensional form and spatial relationships.

Design: Schematic Design
4.5 Investigation and integration of appropriate structural, construction, service and transport systems in the project design.

Documentation: Documentation
6.1 Identification and adoption of a strategy, program and process of documentation integrated through all project stages to enable project delivery

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this session participants should be able to:

  • Identify opportunities for greater sustainable design outcomes within BIM
  • Implement processes and support structures that aid sustainable design and analysis within BIM
  • Recall individual environmental analyses currently available within Revit (BIM software package) and the iterative design processes they support
  • Recognise other sustainable design analyses and considerations beyond BIM
