In this instalment of the popular Heritage HIIT series for non-heritage architects, our panel of award winning architects and consultants takes us on a journey through the range of considerations when recording and documenting buildings and sites. This program will address traditional methods of measuring and recording buildings including site measuring, drawing and photographs, equipment required, tips for difficult areas, the most appropriate drawing scales, and examples of traditional measured drawings. This two hour webinar is equivalent to 2 formal CPD points.

This program will address traditional methods of measuring and recording buildings including site measuring, drawing and photographs, equipment required, tips for difficult areas, the most appropriate drawing scales, and examples of traditional measured drawings. This two hour webinar is equivalent to 2 formal CPD points.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course participants should be able to:

  • Describe the purpose and importance of measuring in recording of heritage projects
  • Identify and apply traditional methods of measuring and recording buildings – site measuring, drawing and photographs
  • Identify and apply new methods for measuring and recording buildings (including laser scan, photogrammetry and drones) in conjunction with traditional measuring

PROJECT INITIATION AND CONCEPTUAL DESIGN
PC 26
Be able to undertake site, cultural and contextual analysis as part of preliminary design research. 

DETAILED DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTATION
PC 37
Be able to produce timely, accurate, complete and comprehensible documentation of the design so that it can be constructed. 
PC 39 Be able to integrate the material selection, structural and construction systems established in the conceptual design into the detailed design and documentation.
PC 47 Be able to complete and communicate on-time, accurate documents for relevant stakeholders, including drawings, models, specifications, schedules and construction documentation.

DESIGN DELIVERY AND CONSTRUCTION PHASE SERVICES
PC 58
     Complete documentation – including specifications, drawings, schedules, reports, certification, and approvals – and other project information for issue to the client and relevant authorities, as required under the construction contract and relevant building and planning codes. 
PC 59 Understand and mitigate risks associated with preparing and recording documentation.

Jacqueline is a registered architect and heritage professional with over twenty years’ experience in providing heritage conservation
services for a range of commercial, industrial, religious, community, and residential buildings. In her capacity as a heritage architect,
Jacqueline has demonstrated expertise in providing practical, robust heritage outcomes and has undertaken a wide range of projects
including heritage assessments, design for adaptations, urban surveys and planning, impact assessments, condition assessments and 
maintenance advice which all require a keen appreciation of the need for practical heritage management and an in depth understanding 
for integrating change. These activities demand the rigorous application of the methodology and principles described in the Australia
ICOMOS Burra Charter which are the basis to her conservation practices and advice. 

In her current role as Associate Director at Extent Heritage, Jacqueline’s leads the Brisbane office and the Built Heritage project team 
covering a wide range of historical heritage and built heritage projects. Jacqueline has extensive experience in the identification, assessment and 
management of heritage and character values and places, as well as adaptive design and master planning advice,  heritage strategy 
and policy development.

Simon is an Associate at Conrad Gargett, with over 15 year’s industry experience.

He is passionate about great design; heritage conservation & adaptive reuse; sustainability; and Building Information Modelling (BIM). His resume boasts a wide range of projects and featuring a variety of building typologies from different eras.

He has extensive experience in working with heritage listed buildings and is committed in particular to the challenges of conservation and adaptive reuse projects.

Simon is a passionate advocate and leader in contemporary architectural documentation methodologies; in particular the practical application of cutting edge technology to the field of heritage conservation and adaptive reuse of existing structures.
