About the Session

This CPD session will cover the design and delivery of the Melbourne Place Hotel.

Melbourne Place was developed as an independent hotel which was designed to offer a point of difference to the global brands which dominate the Melbourne hotel market.

This project was unusual because Kennedy Nolan was responsible for the design of the building, the interiors, and assisting in developing a unique brand for the hotel – elements which are usually completed by disparate and unconnected entities.  The result is a project with a high degree of design integration across every element.

The project was also one of the first projects approved through a design process strongly influenced by the City of Melbourne’s Central Melbourne Design Guide.  As such, the building represents a building type which draws strongly on the heritage of the CBD and on buildings which are focused on contributing to the urban realm.
