Overview
Architectural intent does not end at practical completion. Between design and demolition lies a space where documentation, supplier engagement, verification and maintenance either protect or erode the original vision of a project.
This session explores how accessibility performance, sustainability commitments and design clarity can drift after handover, not through negligence, but through system pressure, fragmented accountability and documentation gaps. Drawing on real project experience across design, manufacturing and construction environments, the seminar provides practical tools that architects can apply immediately.
Participants will leave with structured approaches to supplier accountability, performance verification and post-occupancy documentation, strengthening professional leadership without expanding project scope or fee.

Candice Halliday - Principal Architect
Candice Halliday is the Principal Architect and founder of CNA Design Studio, based in regional New South Wales. With over a decade of experience, she is known for designing sustainable, inclusive spaces that respond to both people and place. Her work spans residential, education, health, aged care, commercial, and interior design sectors, shaped by her time in diverse practices across Canberra and Newcastle.
A registered Building Design Practitioner and specialist in Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), Candice is a national advocate for accessible, high-performance design. As the 2026 National President of the Australian Institute of Architects’ Emerging Architects and Graduates Network (
EmAGN), she champions equity, mentorship, and regional engagement.
Her practice reflects a commitment to circular economy principles, collaborative industry leadership, and architecture that fosters community, resilience, and innovation.

Dean Homicki - Designer | Manufacturer | Product Lifecycle Advocate
Dean Homicki is a designer and manufacturer with more than 30 years’ experience collaborating with architects to deliver complex public and commercial projects. Beginning his career as a gold and silversmith, he developed a strong appreciation for material integrity, craftsmanship and longevity. As founder of Staebl PL, Dean works closely with architects, consultants and construction teams to translate design intent into practical, buildable and enduring outcomes.
His
expertise spans mobility access systems, closed-loop design, installation sequencing and governance-aligned documentation. Through Staebl’s Design Loop® and Custodian® initiatives, Dean leads the development of systems that embed recoverability, traceability and long-term performance into projects, supporting architects focused on sustainability, accountability and the lasting impact of their work.

PC3 Apply principles of project planning, considering implications for Country, environmental sustainability, communities, stakeholders and project costs.
PC5 Be able to apply essential elements of a client architect agreement across the range of procurement methods in relation to their appropriateness to the scale and type of the project, including alternatives for partial services and the engagement of secondary and sub-consultants.
PC7 Apply and follow processes for clear and consistent communication with clients and relevant stakeholders throughout the project, including obtaining approvals from clients and stakeholders.
