The International Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects is pleased to invite you to our Hong Kong Boarding Pass event. Join us for an engaging evening of presentations, connect with colleagues and share experiences working in architecture internationally.

Grant Marani, (RAMSA) International Chapter Councillor
Grant F. Marani, AIA, LFRAIA, a Partner at Robert A.M. Stern Architects, has for almost four decades led the design of a wide variety of projects—from chapels to courthouses, private residences to entire residential neighborhoods—across the United States, Australia, Canada, China, the Czech Republic, France, Japan, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, and Singapore. A graduate of the University of Melbourne (B.Arch., 1979) and Cornell University (M.Arch., 1984), he joined Robert A.M. Stern Architects in 1984 becoming a Partner in 2000. He co-leads the firm’s extensive work in China and is currently Project Partner for the planning and design of several large-scale residential communities. Grant's work has appeared in numerous publications in the U.S. and abroad and he is the co-author of Designs for Living: Houses by Robert A.M. Stern Architects (The Monacelli Press, 2014), and Houses: Robert A.M. Stern Architects (The Monacelli Press, 2021).

Bob Nation, International Chapter Councillor
Robert Nation is an award-winning architect with more than 40 years’ of experience in all facets of architecture, both nationally and internationally. He has worked and studied in Australia and abroad throughout this time, owning practices offshore for more than 20 years. He has lectured extensively at universities in Australia and overseas, has won design competitions throughout Asia and Australia, and has received a number of national and state architectural awards. Over the past 40 years, Bob has been responsible for a diverse range of projects, from small houses to a city in Thailand, which was the largest construction project in the world in the 1990s. In 2012, he was appointed design director for the Barangaroo development in Sydney, Australia. He currently practices out of Hong Kong. In 2006, as National President of the Institute, Bob was able to gain support from National Council for the formation of the International Area Committee, which has now become the International Chapter.

Corrin Chan Chui-Yi, (AOS. Architecture) Registered Architect, FHKIA, HKIUD
Corrin is at present Council Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, has been HKIA Vice President and Honorary Treasurer, Chair-lady of Hong Kong Architecture Centre. She received her degree in Master of Science ( Architecture and Urban Design ) from Columbia University New York and Bachelor in Architecture (Distinction) from the University of Hong Kong. At HKIA, she is now chair of the Media and Communications Committee, HKIA Women Architects Group, was chair of the Architectural Design Competition Taskforce, HKIA Gold Medal Selection Committee, Coordinator for the HKIA ‘Healthy City Healthy Building’ Webinar Series for HK Healthy City Initiatives. She is co-author of several architecture books, and chief editor for the latest book, "25.50: Review and Projection for HK City Development"

Helen Cheng (Turner & Townsend) Director of Sustainability and Decarbonisation, Hong Kong.
Helen, a recently retired Architect has transitioned into real estate sustainability consulting. She has over 25 years of project experience of varying in scope, scale, sectors and budgets: Commercial, Institutional, Infrastructure, Sports; Leisure and Hospitality; Residential in Australia, Singapore, Tianjin, Mumbai, and Dhaka. She worked throughout her studies, graduating from University of Melbourne (BArch 2000), and later RMIT (Master of International Urban and Environmental Management 2020). Helen has a keen interest in urban eco-systems. Her core competencies lie in micro and macro level sustainable design practices from building materials, campus to city level. She regularly tutored Masters and Bachelor level students sustainable design methodology in Architecture and Urban Design at University of Melbourne, SUTD and guest critic at NUS.

Roy Liu, (Gravity), HKIA Deputy Chair of BMA
Roy studied architecture in Hong Kong and Australia. He is a Director at Gravity Architects Ltd and practicing in Hong Kong, PRC and South East Asia. Over his 25 years of experience, Roy has led a variety of projects ranging from mixed-use, retails, office, hospitality, residential, cultural to recreational and motorsport facilities. His projects won numerous local and international design awards and published in magazines and books.
Roy interests in Hong Kong history and its connection in shaping the modern city. To promote a deeper understanding of the City and its architecture, he actively organized sharing sessions, walks, workshops, visits and tours for fellow architects as well as for general public.
