OVERVIEW

The Emerging Architect Prize (EAP) recognises an individual emerging architect or architectural collaboration’s contribution to architectural practice, education, design excellence and community involvement, which advances the profession’s role within the public arena.

Each year, the national EAP winner completes a national tour to deliver a presentation in each capital city and the 2020 tour kicks off in Sydney.

Join us at Tusculum for networking drinks followed by a presentation from 2020 NSW EAP winner Matthias Hollenstein and keynote address from 2020 National EAP winner Sarah Lebner.

You will also get the chance to ask in-depth questions in a Q&A session with Sarah and Matthias.

SPEAKERS AND PRESENTERS

SARAH LEBNER

Sarah Lebner exhibits an energy and focus beyond her years. Her nomination had a rare spark, offering a universal reach at two levels. Having joined ACT-based interdisciplinary practice Light House Architecture and Science soon after graduation, she rose to become principal architect within two years. She leads a team of 11 under the directorship of building scientist Jenny Edwards. Sarah’s generous vision of an architecture for the masses is underpinned by her dedication to climate-change responsiveness. She aims to simplify sustainable design for homebuilders, and to make thoughtfully designed, energy-efficient homes part of the mainstream.

MATTHIAS HOLLENSTEIN
Matthias Hollenstein is the recipient of the 2020 NSW Emerging Architect Prize in recognition for his significant contribution to the architectural profession and the advancement of architecture within the public domain. His practice, Studio Hollenstein, is already the recipient of extensive recognition and accolades through architectural awards. However Matthias should also be commended for his personal commitment to urban design, education, practice and design excellence. In a very short period Matthias has broken down traditional barriers for young, emerging architects –  locally, nationally and globally – and redefined the role and relevance of a younger generation of architects.
