Marshall Blecher, MAST, A Maritime Architecture Studio based in Copenhagen
Marshall Blecher is an award winning Australian architect based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Marshall is the co-founder and director of maritime architecture studio MAST and the founder of Studio Marshall Blecher.
Marshall completed his undergraduate studies at Sydney University in Australia where he was awarded the NSW Mirvac Award for his graduation project. In 2014 Marshall travelled the world with a Byera Hadley Travelling Scholarship researching vernacular communities built on the water which eventually led to his settling in Copenhagen, Denmark. Marshall undertook a Masters degree in Architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Arts, Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation where he graduated with honours.
In 2016 Marshall founded `Studio Marshall Blecher´ a small, collaborative studio delivering unique, well crafted houses across Scandinavia and northern Europe. These houses have received accolades including the Kalundborg architecture prize, and the Jammerbugt kommune architecture prize.
In 2018 Marshall founded the Maritime Architecture Studio MAST together with Danish Architect Magnus Maarbjerg, with a mission to improve the relationship between cities and the sea. MAST has developed projects globally across all scales; from self built floating saunas in Copenhagen to new waterfront developments in Thailand, India, Portugal and Norway.
MAST´s projects have received many accolades including the 2018 Taipei International Design Prize in the social design and public space design categories and the 2022 Taipei International Design Prize in the public space design category. They have also been shortlisted for the Beazley design Award, the Danish Design Prize and the 2022 Dezeen Award.
Marshall has given keynote addresses at Apple HQ in London, at mindtalk in Beijing and at Utopian hours urban design festival in Turin.

As the founder of Architecture AND, Dr Andrew Burns leads the practice’s overarching conceptual framework and approach.
A graduate of Sydney University, Andrew extended his studies by completing a practice-based PhD in Architecture under Professor Mathew Aitchison at Monash University in 2021. Andrew is the recipient of a number of awards: the 2014 National Emerging Architect Prize, the Byera Hadley Travelling Scholarship and the Ian Fell Research Scholarship.
