Join us for a guided tour of Surf Hotel Yamba by DKC Architecture.
The Surf Hotel overlooks Yamba’s Main Beach on a site originally occupied by the Ritz Café in the 1920s, and then the Surf Motel in various forms until 2019. The new hotel, "The Surf", draws on this distinctive history, echoing the original curved forms of the Deco inspired Ritz, the iconic Pacific Hotel and the 1950's lighthouse while delivering a contemporary coastal experience. It comprises 12 beautifully appointed rooms with direct beach access and expansive views along the dramatic NSW coastline.
The project’s success lies in a fully integrated design approach, where architecture, interiors, furniture and detailing work together to create a relaxed and cohesive sense of luxury. Guest rooms are private, carefully furnished with bespoke elements, and designed to maximise sunlight and natural ventilation.
A key design move was the inclusion of a shared rooftop space for guests, featuring a pool and sun decks with sweeping views along the Northern NSW coast. This elevated communal area enhances the experience of the intimate 12-room hotel and strengthens its connection to the landscape.
This tour is one in a series of architectural events held in conjunction with the 2026 NSW Regional Architecture Awards in Coffs Harbour. For more information on the Awards evening, click here.
