ACIKE TOUR AND PRESENTATION

Overview

The EmAGN NT group have organised a presentation and tour of the ACIKE building at Charles Darwin University.

David King-Jones from DKJ Architects and Ken Suter Special Projects Manager from CDU will do a presentation on the design of the building.

Following on from the presentation there will be a guided tour of the facility both internally and externally, showing the importance of this building and its space.

Presenters

David King-Jones

David has been a practising architect since 1972, in a number of locations around the world - the UK, Europe, south east Asia and China - and of course in all Australian states and Territories. After assisting to establish and grow Woodhead International into a major design company - from the early 1980's to 2011 - David took over the Northern Territory office at the end of 2011, re branding it as DKJ projects.architecture.

We now work in the Territory, Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia and are one the most highly awarded architectural firms in the Northern Territory. A recent project of special interest has been the design and documentation of a cyclotron.

This nuclear facility produces isotopes for use in the detection and treatment of cancer. very technical with an architectural overlay and is a recent winner of the Tracy Award and Chapter Awards in 2022 DKJ provide work experience for secondary school students and where possible, provide first employment opportunities for CDU design students and graduates from around Australia. David has served on both the Australian Institure of Architects and PCA at state and national level.

He is currently on the body corporate management board of the hope island marina, Queensland.

Ken Suter

A Financial Executive – FIPA and FFA (Chief Financial Officer) with a demonstrated record of achievement in financial management, budgeting, business planning, project management,internal auditing and business improvement in education, science and banking – Westpac.

Community interests include Director, Secretary and Finance Committee member for the Darwin Symphony Orchestra and Director of Museums and Art Galleries of the Northern Territory Foundation Limited.

Ken also received the President's Award from the Australian Institute of Architects NT Chapter in 2021.
