Overview

Learn about what is, what was, and what could be possible for our built environment!

Our very own local heritage guru Laurie Jones will explain the hierarchy of heritage registers, with an emphasis on places on the Queensland Heritage Register and/or a Local Heritage Register. It will outline the process of identifying, nominating, and entering a place on a Register, and the approval process for future development work, including conservation guidelines and supporting documentation.

Hear from Sunshine Coast Council ‘s Co-ordinator Cultural Heritage Services, Peter Connell, about how they were able to adaptively reuse and work within the rules on state heritage listed properties – Bankfoot House (from 1868) and the former Landsborough Shire Council Chambers (1924) – including restoration, renovation, extensions, interpretation, and “new” buildings.

And finally, join Heritage Architect and Noosa Council Heritage Coordinator, Stephanie Keays for a virtual pub crawl around some of Noosa Shire's historic pubs, many of which no longer survive. Learn about the architects and builders behind them, their history and some of the quirky stories associated with them.
