LEARNING FROM THE 1960s - A JOURNEY AROUND BRIAN WALCH

FRIDAY 8 OCTOBER, 6 PM - 7.30 PM

TASMANIAN CHAPTER OFFICE
1/19A HUNTER STREET
HOBART

Overview

In recognition of the 2021 Enduring Architecture Award, members are invited to a talk and discussion with architect Brian Walch.

Brian will reflect on his work and in particular the Wilson/Robson building (1973), recipient of this year's Enduring Architecture Award.

Illustrating how 'a Brutalist building can reflect the scales of traditional Tasmanian architecture' (B. McNeill, 2002), the Wilson/Robson building confirms that there is much still to be appreciated from this period. Its practitioners form an enduring branch of the Tasmanian architectural tree.
