The International Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects is pleased to invite you to our Hong Kong Boarding Pass event. Join us for an engaging evening of presentations, connect with colleagues and share experiences working in architecture internationally.

Winnie Kwok, Associate Principal, Woods Bagot HK
Winnie has more than 15 years of solid experience across a broad range of projects in China, Middle East and Australia. She has gained extensive design and project management experience from a number of projects ranging from small to large scale residential, hospitality, lifestyle, recreational, education and commercial. Winnie has an intimate understanding of projects from concept design through to construction. She also has expertise in reviewing construction drawings, and proactively leads the design team to effectively collaborate with clients and sub consultants. She has been recognized by all parties, especially for mixed use, commercial and retail architecture and interior design projects in recent years.

Alex Chow, Senior Associate, Hassell HK 
Alexander Chow is a registered architect with Board of Architects of Queensland (BOAQ) who joined Hassell (Brisbane) in 2004 as undergraduate and is currently Senior Associate for Hassell (Hong Kong). He is mainly involved with the Urban Transport Sector and have delivered projects in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne such as Woolloongabba Station on Cross River Rail and Bella Vista Station on Sydney Metro Northwest. Alexander has a passion for designing stations with practical planning integrated with architectural moments to enhance the passengers’ journey. Understanding the technical and engineering aspects of metro design, he thrives on the collaboration with multi-disciplines in creating a better transport outcome for the client and users.
 
He will present his journey from working on the expansion upgrade of his local station for QLD Rail through to delivering new railway lines on Moreton Bay Rail Link, Sydney Metro Northwest and Brisbane Cross River Rail. Being involved with different typologies of station designs has their own complex issues, and how strategies were developed to address multiple stations project whether design or construction. His journey was possible through the opportunities that Hassell has for offer which led to his current position in the Hong Kong studio where he is now involved with the Northern Link for MTR in collaboration with Aecom and Arup.

Helen Cheng (Turner & Townsend) Director of Sustainability and Decarbonisation, Hong Kong.
Helen, a recently retired Architect has transitioned into real estate sustainability consulting. She has over 25 years of project experience of varying in scope, scale, sectors and budgets: Commercial, Institutional, Infrastructure, Sports; Leisure and Hospitality; Residential in Australia, Singapore, Tianjin, Mumbai, and Dhaka. She worked throughout her studies, graduating from University of Melbourne (BArch 2000), and later RMIT (Master of International Urban and Environmental Management 2020). Helen has a keen interest in urban eco-systems. Her core competencies lie in micro and macro level sustainable design practices from building materials, campus to city level. She regularly tutored Masters and Bachelor level students sustainable design methodology in Architecture and Urban Design at University of Melbourne, SUTD and guest critic at NUS.

Roy Liu, (Gravity), HKIA Deputy Chair of BMA
Roy studied architecture in Hong Kong and Australia. He is a Director at Gravity Architects Ltd and practicing in Hong Kong, PRC and South East Asia. Over his 25 years of experience, Roy has led a variety of projects ranging from mixed-use, retails, office, hospitality, residential, cultural to recreational and motorsport facilities. His projects won numerous local and international design awards and published in magazines and books.
Roy interests in Hong Kong history and its connection in shaping the modern city. To promote a deeper understanding of the City and its architecture, he actively organized sharing sessions, walks, workshops, visits and tours for fellow architects as well as for general public.
