This International Women’s Day event we explore the barriers, biases and double standards shaping the careers of women and gender-diverse professionals in architecture, while questioning how workplaces can truly support confidence and agency. A panel of voices across all career stages will share lived experiences, challenge assumptions, and envision a more inclusive culture of practice.

Monique Woodward FRAIA - Principal & Creative Director of WOWOWA Architecture
Monique is the Co-Founder and Creative Director of WOWOWA Architecture & Interiors. Established in 2010 on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people, the B Corp-certified practice is celebrated for creating narrative-rich, award-winning spaces that are both intimate and publicly generous. After 10 years serving as Victorian and National Councillor for the Australian Institute of Architects, Monique is known for her thought leadership and advocacy. She sat National Gender Equity Diversity and Impact Committee, was awarded the AIA’s National Emerging Architect Prize in 2018 and co-curated the 2019 National Conference, Collective Agency. Monique is Dulux Study Tour Alumni and proud mum.

Dr Yolanda Vega (PhD) - Author, Researcher, Educator, Speaker
Dr Yolanda is a leader, educator, and advocate for gender equity, diversity, and inclusion. Vega works to disband entrenched power structures, strengthen women’s economic foundations, and design fairer, more inclusive workplaces and communities. Yolanda is the founder and former CEO of the Australian Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry and represented Australia at the inaugural APEC Women’s Economic Summit, chaired by Hillary Rodham Clinton. She has delivered keynotes at national and international forums, contributed to global conversations on sex-based discrimination, and is the author of Disbanding the Patriarchy: Sex, Policy and Power.

Suzannah Waldron - Director, Searle x Waldron Architecture
A solo director and solo mum, Suzannah leads through lived experience, demonstrating that ambition, care and creative leadership are not competing forces. In 2025, the studio was awarded the AIA Victorian Architecture Medal, recognising its contribution to public life through design. Suzannah’s work explores how architectural leadership can be collaborative, values-driven and inclusive, advocating for practice models that support equity, resilience and long-term cultural impact.

Yvonne Meng - Director Circle Studio Architects
Yvonne is the director of Circle Studio Architects. Her work is driven by an interest in how people live, experience, and shape their everyday environments. Yvonne holds a PhD in architecture. Her thesis ‘The Architecture of Footpaths' examines urban footpaths as a vital public space produced through adaptation, character, and socially and culturally diverse communities. She has taught extensively at Bachelor and Masters levels, served as a long-standing member of the AIA Editorial Committee and actively contributes to Melbourne’s architectural culture through writing, speaking, and professional service.

Jean Graham - Director, Winter Architecture
Jean leads the award-winning Winter Architecture practice with a thoughtful, flexible approach, creating designs that balance craft, innovation, and site responsiveness. Her career spans teaching and advocacy, shaping her approach to practice and the profession. She teaches a final-year Master of Architecture studio at Deakin University and co-curates the Geelong & Surf Coast Architects Group. Newly elected to the ArchiTeam Board, Jean champions small practices, emerging architects, and collaboration across the profession.
