Generation Exchange is an informal mentoring forum designed to bridge experience and new energy. It connects our most senior architects—who have won and lost a thousand professional battles—with our emerging practitioners. Loosely based on day-to-day issues, these sessions provide invaluable reassurance and wisdom, recreating the kind of considered dialogue that is essential to our profession yet often lost in our dynamic, fast-paced reality.

Ian McDougall

Ian McDougall is a Co-Founder of ARM architects, an architect dedicated to creating public buildings with a social mission. His career spans design, teaching, and writing, and he is proud of ARM's provocative and foundational role in shaping Melbourne's design scene today. Ian practices architecture as a unique art form that must engage and serve the community.

Ann Lau

Ann Lau is a Director at Hayball, driven by an early fascination with architecture. Her design philosophy centres on creating dynamic, hybrid buildings that enhance human relationships and reflect urban diversity. She is deeply invested in nurturing design culture and translating client ambitions into projects with a lasting, meaningful legacy.

Toby Reed & Anna Nervegna

Anna Nervegna and Toby Reed lead the award-winning practice, Nervegna Reed Architecture. Their multidisciplinary work spans cultural, social, and rural projects, celebrated for publications and documentaries. Their acclaimed Central Goldfields Art Gallery was exhibited at the recent Venice Architecture Biennale.
