Lean In with Dr Forest Flager - Vertical integration: its impact on architecture and the built environment

12pm, Tuesday 16 March

Overview

Joining us from the USA, Dr Flager will discuss the concept of vertical integration, its impact on architecture and the built environment.

Katerra is developing innovative solutions from design to construction such as modularisation, automated off site manufacturing, CLT, robotics, and more to help improve housing affordability by driving down cost, complexity and construction time.

They combine these efforts with a team who bring expertise in the unique needs and challenges of the affordable housing sector.

Katerra is following a vertical integration strategy of technology, design, procurement, manufacturing and construction under a single management removing middleman and speeding construction process. The company are creating a global supply chain by acquiring companies and building its own factories and facilities.

With scale, this unique business model could decrease the cost to supply housing and increase productivity on site.
