Overview

The Commonwealth Modern Slavery Act 2018 was implemented for large businesses and other entities in the Australian market with annual consolidated revenue of at least $100 million to report on the risks of modern slavery in their operations and importantly, their supply chains and what they are doing to address these risks.

The NSW Government is committed to implementing the NSW Act with a principal objective of achieving greater harmonisation with the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth) with the adoption of $50 million as the national reporting threshold.

In this National Lean In, Georgia Marjoribanks from Morrissey Law + Advisory will demystify the Modern Slavery Legislation, covering topics such as:

- What is the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth)
- Who does it apply to? Who will be impacted?
- The current status of amendments to the Act
- What your reporting obligations are
- What clients will expect of Architectural practices?
- How to complete your Modern Slavery Register and what needs to be included in your annual reports.

The session will conclude with a brief introduction to our new Products & Materials Library launching soon and how the Institute is promoting Modern Slavery Registers to fast-track specification issues which may arise as a result of this legislation and other procurement issues.
